Bio

Safa Kassab, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who treats diseases and injuries of bones, joints, and tendons at Orthopedic Specialists of Oakland County.

Dr. Kassab, a native of Detroit, immigrated to the United States as a child and developed a strong work ethic early in life. He completed his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University and went on to attend Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received his Doctor of Medicine with distinction. He completed his orthopedic surgery training at the Detroit Medical Center, where he was elected Chief Orthopedic Resident in his final year.

To further enhance his expertise, Dr. Kassab completed a one-year fellowship in hip and knee joint replacements with two pioneering surgeons at the University of California, San Diego. This specialized training makes Dr. Kassab one of the few orthopedic surgeons in the Detroit metropolitan area who is highly skilled and specifically trained in hip and knee replacement and reconstruction surgery.

Dr. Kassab has always been at the forefront of advancements in knee replacements. Notably, he is the first surgeon in Michigan to perform knee replacements using augmented reality, showcasing his commitment to utilizing cutting-edge technology to improve patient outcomes.

Despite his many achievements, Dr. Kassab believes that the best part of his job is the opportunity to interact with and have the privilege to help others.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds memberships with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
